JUDAI, MOTHER RICKY REYES and BB. JOYCE

Second, I am nibbling my way into the core of my work and one proof of that is nakasama ko sa isang table si Bb. Joyce Bernal. In fairnness, para siyang si Tinkerbell na sabog. Gusto ko siya kasi napansin niya ang aking presence bilang isang small particle sa table na iyon. Alam mo naman how big atomic people can get so flustered among themselves that they hardly notice the seeming details that make up a mitochondria. They won't even look at your eye when they talk to you. And for that attention, i give her a big red check on my people list.

Ito pa, i have another newbie thing going on for tomorrow. I have an appointment with Mr. Jing Monis of Propaganda to have my hair colored and styled just like Judy Ann Santos. And ask me why?

So i'm kinda in a limbo if i would like to have my hair colored. I'm a hair virgin you see. I never got it hot oiled, permed, straightened, colored, cellophaned or rebonded kahit isama mo pa yung milk rebond ni Ricky Reyes. Nada. I don't even comb my hair. So that's it. Pag ako naloka sa sarili ko after that hindi ko na alam. After that may meeting pa and i have the gall to attend a meeting in full hair regalia. Then may interview pa ako sa Tondo after. My goodness talaga. I'm worried about the wedding I'll attend on Saturday baka hindi bumagay ang buhok ko sa damit ko. Haaaay. It's gonna be some sort of college reunion and let's just cut the crap--- reunions are yardsticks of how good life has been with us and if I end up looking like some hair colored bimbo then fine that's why we have chit chats to justify ourselves. I can always go for a little statement: I'm preparing for a big role.

Speaking of Ricky Reyes' Milk Rebonding thing, i remember its ad that says: May gatas ka pa sa labi. May gatas nako sa buhok. Or something like that. I don't know if that is meant to entice people or boggle up minds thinking where on earth did they get those statements to go together.

So what kung may gatas ka sa buhok?

KINDLE HIGH SCHOOL

Wella, one of my BFFs or bestfriends forevah in high school suddenly messaged us other BFFs that we should meet somewhere in Manila Bay since her American Navy ship is docking by Manila and that she will spend overnight here with the family. This girl has been away for years and an overnight thing in Manila is as precious as butanding sightings in Donsol. Now our THING meant calling up people whom i had the best time of my life in high school. And THINGS like those are meant to be relished not in Manila Bay but in Ciudad Real in SJDM Bulacan. Ciudad Real is like our tambayan back then.

Of course, we love digging up old and new bones in our high school closets. We talked about who got married, who got pregnant, who got together, who turned ugly, who turned  beautiful, who was kicked out from her pedestal and even who died from our batchmates. I never had an earthshaking presence in high school nor our group (Wella, Aineegooh, Blessie, Jange etc.) We were just on the sidelines observing, minding our own businesses and popping our zits. Yeah, we're not on the popular group and we don't have pedestals heck we were the dust on the pedestals--- haha! But when i look at all of us and what we have become, the statement ' Look at us now! ' is what best describes the moment. I guess it is a sweet revenge that we turned out ok after all even without the immature public clamoring for us 10 years ago.

Wella's brother fondly recalled that i walked fast with my eyebrows almost always meeting and dishiveled hair. He actually summed it up with a question: Ate, galit pa ba sa mundo si Ate Geng? Oh yes I was back then but not like Janeane Garofalo. Going thru our high school pictures, I noticed that we were always stooping low, posing with a smirk and looking blank while receiving some award. Wella said that i never smiled in high school even in pictures. I don't know why. Raging hormones? Self-pity? Self-irritation? Mother issues? Bad skin, hair and teeth? Baby fat? Body odor? Perhaps all of the above. At least i went through that which i think is so Generation X. Now i know i can smile the sweetest of smiles even with constant bouts of irritation. Smiles are always sweetest when you have had lots of frowns.

Going thru high school is like a chemical experiment. It is where one decides to make the litmus paper turn red or blue or any color that we like. A separation of oil to water. You have never been human if you didn't go thru high school.

Thank God, we still laugh out loud and still have humors that bind us.

MASAKER

I had a 3 hour chit chat with a mother who survived a massacre. Their househelp attacked her family with a kitchen knife that led to the death of her husband and 11 year old son. She survived the ordeal and still managed to double check her catering business due the following day all the way to the hospital while her belly was ripped and her intestines dangling like christmas lights in Ayala. Now, thats tenacity of the spirit. I think it could be a new angle to Nike's Just Do It line only gruesome. Or simply business is business. Or professionalism at its finest hour.

I am amazed that in all the tragic stories i have summoned from years of doing human interest research they are all laced with humor so dark it can be an episode for The Simpsons.

I am amazed too that people really say gory things that happened to them casually and with fleeting fondness that makes me think killing as depicted on film is just an exagerration. Well, having your intestines come out is just so weird much more being killed.

The last Pinoy flick i watched was this Regine-Piolo movie and, again, i watched it because Eugene Domingo was in it. She was down spat an actor whom i never get tire of watching. Fans of her acting should've seen her on stage in Welcome To Intelstar a year ago as a call center boss orienting would be agents in their office. She's just so brilliant. Regine, for the first time, didn't reek of contrived cuteness like what she did in a movie she made with Christopher de Leon. By the way, i saw that movie on cable and it was a big chunk of flak. I realized her character peg in that movie was that of Bridget Jones. Tanga tangahan effect matched with bohemian wardrobe and colorful friends on the side plus planted artiste behaviors with her not being inspired to paint. Painter din pala siya dun. Puhleeez  Luiz. Boyet's character is some uptight widower meddling in computers so that he would look boring in contrast with Regine's colorete character. Another Puhleez Luiz! Its one of the most irritating and wrinkling films that i saw on cable and of Regine's.

Piolo Pascual was oh well handsome. He's beautiful on screen. Beautiful is boring.

MONUMENTS ON RAINY DAYS
1. It's this time of the year when single girls turn awry on coffee shops lining the metro. And why not? It's June and its that time of year when single imaculate girls tie up the knot and just drop everything to become the BRIDE. Another one of our lot is getting married this June and its quite surprising that there are things in wedding ceremonies that rock my boat. One for sure is the Bridal Registry side. I asked my cosmo friends on what the heck is this registry about? Aba, hindi na pala pwede ang basta bastang regalo ng isang set ng baso or punch bowl with hooks and cups dahil may Bridal registry na. haha! I liked the idea kasi its leaning on the practical side of life and its like a bouncer on bridal gifts given just for the sake of having to give a gift. Its the thought that counts? Oh please. Tell me something new.
This is the invitation. The girl is a poreless classmate from UST and the boy is a basketball hottie of the same school. Oh well, poreless girls get the basketball guys. Bwahaha! I don't know what the Chinese thing means but it looks so Mano Po and Chinese Angpao brazen in gold.
2. We all know i guess about the frieking Ruffa-Yilmaz thing going on. As much i dismiss showbiz stuff since its becoming too redundant in my life to even have time to talk about it but i would like to make an exception. You see, Ruffa Gutierrez and I had a brief moment together, a stint i may call between production lowlys and star biggies. The staff who chases the artist for production requirements kind of thing. And i believe that God is good and so was she to me. I had her mothers' taste for expletives on my cellphone when i returned late some stuff---- Anabelle Rama is a raging Visayan bull on and off cam. Ruffa was good and i appreciate goodness sans the star quality like introducing me her new born then Venice. Venice doesn't look Pinoy though, she looks like a glossy and cute tiyanak. It's weird why i described her that but her mom is really nice and maarte so she became cute in a horrorific kind of way. I am bothered that she had to go through this episode. I felt that way because i felt good chasing her around and you know this feeling of people you encountered in your life and they just burst out in public... thats it.
The controversial couple during their happier times vacationing in Maldives and catching a barracuda.

3. I got really nice flowers. Yikiti! Don't mind the power outlet. These are carnations and they have become my favorite. I used to pick them up in our yard. The small cute carnations that grow anywhere with the flower in white and pink speckles. O di ba girly. Picking flowers in the yard is so Little House on the Praire!

This has been my sanctuary for four years already. It's my extension. Almost like a limb out in the open. Know that people want to express, to just chuck it out, to just be themselves even on something as artificial as blog. I am that people. So don't mind me...
